Rising Issue Publication

Rising Issue is a publication sharing the stories of change makers. It highlights the individuals working at the forefront of positive social change, destigmatising and inspiring education. What started as a university project, driven by young people fighting for their values, has grown into an online and offline global platform. 

The business development of Rising Issue started with an in-depth report detailing research, strategy and the branding plan.

As part of the research, I created these mood boards representing the different types of activists amongst Gen Z. The first showing a more radical one eager for change, and the latter being the more restrained type, focusing more on the spread of information rather than the actions towards it.

Interestingly, when presented to a focus group of Gen Z’ers, they related more to the first one than the latter.

As well as creating a plan for execution, I created a zine showcasing local creatives’ work as well as showing the potential of the publication.

After a rebrand, I relaunched the magazine with Issue 1 on Mental Health. With the follow-up to the launch, I created a community of creatives that helped with the issue by submitting content, assisting in design and editing. I also designed and created the e-commerce website which currently sells the first issue.
