The Ultimate Faves | Powders

Happy new year everyone! I'm currently doing a little summary of 2017 which will be up next week, but for now I'm back at it with the ultimate faves! I've been really inconsistent with my content recently but bear with me. I have a 3,5000 word report, 1,500 summary and a presentation at the end of the month. I promise I'll be on it nonetheless though! In today's post though, I'm sharing my all time fave face powders.

Not a category we probably think much about, however I believe it can be the thing that can make or break a makeup look. You can use an amazing foundation or concealer, but if you don't set it, by the end of the day it's probably going to be gone. I've spoken about this before but I have a huge pet peeve. I absolutely hate concealer creasing under the eye and getting those lines. Ugh, gives me shivers. I've been on the hunt to find the perfect setting powder ever since.

Here are some of the gems that I've found so far.

Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder in Translucent - £29.99
The holy grail, they one and only. I've been using this powder for a few months now and I use it every single day. With other powders I always seem to experience patchiness, unevenness and by the end of the day I have foundation lines either way. This powder is the only one that I've experienced to set my under eye without any creases or patchiness. It stays on the whole day and does not move the makeup at all. The way I use it, I like to apply all my wet products then bounce them with a beauty blender to make sure everything is blended. I then go in with the powder on the sponge and really press it in the crease. This ensures that there are no lines and it becomes completely matte. Highly recommend this product however I do realise that it's not the cheapest. Nonetheless, treat yo self every now and then for the perfect makeup day.

Rimmel Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder - £3.99
Moving on to things of a much lower price, this is your drugstore gem. Highly raved in the beauty world, this powder is here to set. I specifically like to use this one all over my face because I'm not all about that dewy look, I like my makeup to be as matte as it comes. I'll use this powder once I've done my face and just go in with a big powder brush all over my face to set it all. I will say that I will use this one on some occasions to set my under eye when I just want a quick makeup look and It does work. Nothing will beat Laura Mercier but for £3.99 you can't complain. It can cling to some of the dry patches on my face when I'm not wearing much makeup but that's just because I'm having a bad skin month.

Loreal Lumi Magique Pearl Powder - £8.99
This one was an unexpected one. I bought this in Boyes when I first started getting into makeup which was maybe about 2/3 years ago. I just wanted to try using powder, yes I never used them before, and this one stated that it would illuminate, mattify and give a radiant healthy glow. I used it for months and never really noticed that on me but nonetheless it was the only powder that I had. Its only till I did a models makeup with it for my project that I really noticed the glow. It really shook me becuase I never really noticed it. I have unfortunately dropped the powder recently which means that its harder to pick up the product with the brush therefore haven't been using it as much. I might try crushing it all and pressing it down again. I think this will be nice to use during spring to get that nice glow.
