Casual Summer Wardrobe | Fosse Fashionista Event

August 12, 2018
The heat waves are out of control! One day you're sweating, the next it's raining. We've had some crazy weather in the past few weeks, you just don't know what to wear when you're leaving the house for work. Fosse Park, the Leicester based retail park, kindly invited me to join their #FosseFashionista event and pick some summer outfits for the event.

With the bipolar weather I thought that going for the summer tops, shorts and skirts may not be the best idea. Who knows how much longer we'll have the sun. Working a 9-5 job I also wanted something that will be smart to wear for work but also summery.

The Fosse Park team were kind enough to give me a gift card for one of their selected stores including Topshop, Outfit, River Island or Next to pick my summer outfit. I decided to pick some pieces exclusively at New Look rather than the other stores as recently it's my go-to high street store. Having a more realistic sizing for women and generally offering a wider range of wearable clothes, New Look stand out amongst high street competitors. Unlike other high street stores, I always find something that I like and actually feel good in.

For my summer wardrobe I had this vision in my head of the perfect 3/4 length jeans that go with every blouse that I own. Jeans are always something that I struggle to find as they never seem to fit my bum in. The high street jeans just seem to expand in length and width with the sizes, unfortunately women's bodies don't work that way. Women have curves and our hips aren't the same length as our thighs. New Look is my new found secret for jeans, check out the Harlow pair which I've been wearing nearly every day!

I also picked up some tops to add to the blouse collection. This loose fit check blouse is something that I've seen about for a while especially with the detail to the buttons and fit. The grid on the top also made the top a bit more interesting making it more versatile for any occasion. Something that you can wear to work, for a coffee date or a quick grab when you're struggling with an outfit in the morning. The fabric choice is also perfect for bipolar weather being lightweight for the warmer temperatures and easily layered for the cooler weather.

The classic white shirt, an everyday necessity. I've been looking for a white shirt for a while now because it's the perfect formal piece in your wardrobe that will always make you look good. This is all down to the perfect fit and look which is preferance based. I wanted something that wasn't too formal, something that could be worn casually but also dressed up. Linen shirts tend to always have a more relaxed feel therefore perfect for a summer look. Check out the shirts!

Finally, arguably my favourite piece, the off-the-shoulder shirt. I have finally found one that I don't look silly in. It's a smart shirt with a sexy twist being off the shoulder. I have worn this shirt paired with jeans, skirts and trousers and overall it's a very versatile shirt.

Here are some snaps of me during the day but head to my Instagram story highlights to see what else I got up to. I'd love to hear what your  summer pieces include!

Thanks for reading, Dom x
