Seasonal Mood | SAD

It's getting to that time of the year where you leave your house in the dark and come back in the dark. Every day just seems greyer and greyer, and it's definitely not helping your mood.

Around winter time my mood is at an all time low and I've noticed this for the past maybe 3 or 4 years now. I feel down all the time and anything can ruin my day. My college/uni work struggles because I'm not motivated, I lose friends and I just feel absolutely shit. As a generally positive person, I feel like it's all my fault. This is also when the over thinking is at it's peak, making me worry about everything I say or do and picking apart all the conversations I have, convincing myself that everyone hates me.

Anyone else feel like that recently?

Meditation, Self Care & All That

I am writing this post while sitting snuggled up in bed getting over a week long cold. It's times like this that you re-evaluate how you treat your body and notice that you're slacking. I have been living off Lemsip and paracetamol!

7 Fashion Books to Get Inspired

As most people would say, we're drawn to visual things. I was always that kid that looked at the pictures in books and watched films because frankly, it was just easier that way. I may not own many books to read, but I definitely have plenty of books purely because they have lots of beautiful visuals in them to keep me engaged. Today I have a list of some of my favourite fashion books that I either own or have borrowed.

I haven't done a review or a beauty post in a long time and this is something that I've been meaning to say for a while now as it may be controversial. Its a NAY for me!

Wine & Dine at Sexy Mamma Love Spaghetti | Nottingham

This sexy mamma loves me some spaghetti! Nothin' better than some pasta on a week day. Just around the corner from our flat, me and Oli tried the Sexy Mamma Love Spaghetti.

This cute little restaurant in Hockley has blown up recently, being completely packed every time I'm there. The waiters ended up setting new tables outside for the customers which I very much appreciated!

Casual Summer Wardrobe | Fosse Fashionista Event

The heat waves are out of control! One day you're sweating, the next it's raining. We've had some crazy weather in the past few weeks, you just don't know what to wear when you're leaving the house for work. Fosse Park, the Leicester based retail park, kindly invited me to join their #FosseFashionista event and pick some summer outfits for the event.

With the bipolar weather I thought that going for the summer tops, shorts and skirts may not be the best idea. Who knows how much longer we'll have the sun. Working a 9-5 job I also wanted something that will be smart to wear for work but also summery.

The Fosse Park team were kind enough to give me a gift card for one of their selected stores including Topshop, Outfit, River Island or Next to pick my summer outfit. I decided to pick some pieces exclusively at New Look rather than the other stores as recently it's my go-to high street store. Having a more realistic sizing for women and generally offering a wider range of wearable clothes, New Look stand out amongst high street competitors. Unlike other high street stores, I always find something that I like and actually feel good in.

Overcoming a Creative Rut

We all get the occasional creative rut every now and then. Or if you're like me, every day, but who's counting aye. I haven't posted for a few weeks now because life got in the way with work placement, my mum getting married and a bunch of other excuses. Nonetheless I haven't felt creative in a long time. I ran out of ideas, motivation and the spark that makes you feel like you're onto something great.

I'm here today to share the pain with my fellow creatives and give my best tips on overcoming this dreadful time in your life. I've been trying really hard to deal with this problem as I really need some insight coming into third and final year at uni. I want to end with a bang and make the best work that I have ever made and just generally be proud of myself. Am I aiming too high?

How to get a Fashion Internship

Internships are at the core of any fashion career, whether that's design, marketing or buying. The industry unfortunately believes that you need to have experience in the industry before you actually get into it. This means that at some point, us fashion students will have to do some unpaid work, which sucks but you get so much out of it.

48 Hours in Manchester | Travel Diary

Another day, another travel diary.

I decided to have a little getaway a few weeks ago and because I was looking the day before I wanted to go, I only found fairly cheap locations in the UK. Next one will be abroad though! I really need some sun, cocktails and tan in my life especially with this bipolar weather in the UK. Raining one day then scorching for the next 2 days. Just gimmie sun for a week!

Urban Decay Heat Palette Review & Swatches

The Holy Grail!

I've had this beauty for a few months now so I've had a chance to have a good play around with it. I wanted do a small review here since I haven't done a beauty post in a while and at this point in my life I'm starting to think I have too many eye shadow palettes. You need a bit of variety in your life though.

NTU Knitwear Show | Arty Farty

What a great show! About a week ago I went to the NTU Knitwear show with the girls (and Oli). Check out Gabriella and Kotryna, they have amazing instagrams! Its great to see other students work, and knitwear was always a show that I wanted to see. Plus you get free wine at these types of events and who doesn't love a bit of free wine!

The show was brief but it was just a mid year one, it's the end of the year one that is always really big and exclusive. I'm really looking forward to that but nonetheless it was great to see some work now. As you all probably guessed from the pictures the chunky oversized yellow knit was my fave. The model looked fire and was super friendly. I believe the designer was Jessica Rose Braithwaite and you should check out her instagram, it's amazing. I just loved everything about it starting with he colour down to the fit on the model. It's something that most people wouldn't wear on a day-to-day basis but something that I definitely would! I'm all about that oversized look. It was also nice to see some girls from my course modelling too, you girls looked fab!

Can't wait for the degree shows!

Mulberry Unboxing | Chelsea Boots

My first luxury pair of shoes, one of many I hope. About a month ago I went to the Bicester Village Outlet with Oli and had a browse through all the Gucci, Prada and Vivienne Westwood. With my birthday coming up Oli bought me these wonderful Mulberry Chelsea Boots which were such a bargain!

Original price of the boots was about £400 and outlet price was £150! I'm thinking that's a life investment and was so worth it. I've been meaning to start buying my basics high end due to the good quality. I want to be at a stage where I have all my basics high end and its the trend pieces that I buy on the high street. The boots are a staple piece in the wardrobe that go with every outfit. The chunkiness of them really pull the outfit together and give a punky vibe. I've been wearing them everyday for the past week due to the snow and they're so comfortable. I'm still wearing them in so the top on the boot has scratched me a bit but it is leather so I do understand that it needs to be worn in. I had the same situation with my Doc Martens. I had blisters for about a month but it was so worth it.

On Turning 21 | Older and Wiser?

I've finally reached the age that I would always refer my 'much older' cousins to. Twenty one and above felt like such a distant age to me, always a long way away. I just seem to think I'm forever 16, mentally and physically. When I told my manager at work I was twenty one she said I still look 12... in a good way apparently. It's the age when most people have their lives sorted, get houses and start to have kids. Pretty sure my mum was pregnant at the age of twenty one. I'm sat here in bed with my teddy bear dog, in my Disney pyjamas thinking about what to have for dinner or if I can be bothered to get out of bed and go to they gym. Is this adulting?
