Glossybox Unboxing | January Box

January 29, 2017

Hello my lovelies!

I hope you've all had a nice January. This month I wanted to try out something different. I've been doing Glossybox unboxings for about 5 months now and I was considering swapping over to Birchbox. It's another beauty box service and I've heard that it's supposedly better than Glossybox.
This month I purched both boxes and the better one would be the winner. As you can see, Glossybox was the winner. Birchbox had products which I wouldn't really want to use or they just didn't excite me that much. I guess I just wanted to try it because it looked really good for December.

Anyway, here's what I received this month:

  • Nip + Fab Kale Fix Moisturiser
I love the idea of a kale moisturiser. I don't eat kale at all but I've always wanted to try it. When I put this on my face however, the smell was so bad. I don't know if it's meant to smell like that but it wasn't pleasant at all. It was moisturising, however the smell was a deal breaker. But hey, if you love your kale than I'm sure you'll like this.
  • The Balm Meet Matt(e) Trimony Single Eyeshadow
Okay, I was soo excited to see this in the box. I've been eyeing up this brand for so long and I'm so glad that I finally get to try it out. This deep purple shade would look so nice in the crease or on the lid for a more grungey look. I've tried this out once and the shadow applied on so smoothly and blended effortlesly.
  • Unani Illuminate Milk Cleanser
My first impression of this products was that it's amazing. I was just running out of my current cleanser which is water based rather than cream based. I've been using this one to fully test it out so I can say a little bit about it. The smell of this product is so good! When you put it on it's so relaxing and soothing. However after using this day after day I've started to notice a stinging a few minutes after use. It might be because my face is just very sensitive or that I'm rubbing too hard. Either way, not the nicest feeling. I'll carry on using it, however not on a day to day basis.
  • Vitamasques Manuka Honey Face Mask
Haven't used this bad boy yet. I have done a blog post recently all about sheet masks featuring this one, so check that out. Manuka Honey though. I feel like I'm hearing so much about this. It's become such a popular ingredient within beauty. Manuka Honey has about 4 times more nutritional benefits to regular honey so that might be it. It's like people have rediscovered it and put it in all sorts of products from skin care to makeup.
  • Spa to you Konjac Sponge
This one was the confusing one. By just looking at the product and not reading the writing I honestly didn't now what it was. It's this tear drop shape thing in a packet but the thing is, it was wet. How often do you buy wet sponges? Okay well I don't. The size of it was a little disappointing too, how can you wash yourself with a flimsy thing like that? I thought to myself though, I'll give it a go. I've been using it for a couple of days and I must say, if fits in your hand perfectly. It's like it's made for it. Haven't noticed any benefits from using this instead of a regular sponge, might be a long term thing though? We'll see.

That's it for today, thanks for reading, Dom x
