Murano Glass Jewelry | Venice Trip

Hello my lovelies!
As some of you may know I went to Venice last week and I'm so thrilled to share some of that with you. I also got a new camera recently so Venice was a perfect place for me to experiment with it. There were so many beautiful views and everything was just mind blowing.
Anyhow, I wanted to share some jewelry with you that I bought. Just off the coast of Venice there are little islands which are also very popular. Murano is about 15 minutes away from the main island and it specializes in glass blowing. We took a trip there one day and got to see them actually create the glass. I also got a chance to just wander about and can I just say the amount of shops selling different Murano glass was mind blowing. I'm pretty sure the majority of it was just glass shops and they were all one of a kind.
Anyhow, they also sold some beautiful jewelry which I couldn't resist. I also tried to go for colours that would suit my eye colour (which is green/brown) so that's browns, blues and golds.

I've got another Venice post planned so ill try to post that at some point next week as soon as I've finished editing all my pictures. It'll be a little insight into Venice ;)
I hope you enjoyed this post and appreciate this beautiful jewelry as much as I do.
Thanks for stopping by, Dom x

Makeup Revolution | Current Fave Brand

Hello my lovelies!
How is everyone on this fine day? So who wants to talk makeup? I've got my current favourite makeup brand for you today. I'll talk about quality and price and how to get it. Also next week there shall be a Venice post (or a couple) ;)
So to start of I'll talk about quality since you don't want to be spending your money on something that just isn't going to be that great. I currently own 2 palettes and a highlighter, I'll start with the palettes. Makeup Revolution have currently released lots of palettes ( I want to say hundreds but I'm sure that's just me getting excited). They have a big range of colours which to be honest makes it harder to pick. The colours are also very pigmented. I normally try and prime my eyelids to make the eyeshadow last longer however when I don't the colour still stays on all day. At the end of the day the colours only slight fade (and I mean really slightly). I use this palette for going out too (silver and black shades) and the colour stays on all night. Another thing is that its really buildable. For a stronger shade I sometimes wet the brush and apply the shade then which makes it slightly creamy but then you can build it up and finish off with a dry brush. The highlighter again is very pigmented! I meant you don't expect it so  you just swirl your brush in it and apply and pow! So a tip, just use it with care. The colour is a really lovely shade and really brings attention to some areas like the cheeks.
Moving on to prices. Here's the website for more products and prices. The reason why I started to buy Makeup Revolution products was because I always just saw it in Superdrug and due to me being cheap as hell I always went for that rather than Revlon for example (no hate, still love Revlon hehe). I always saw the lipsticks and powders for £1 and it doesn't get any better than that. Anyhow both of the palettes were £4 each. For the amount of shades that is an amazing price. Makeup Revolution have also been recently releasing similar palettes for £6 which include dupe of the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette. I'd also recommend following them on instagram because you'll see the new products sooner (can I just say they've brought out a new range of brushes! I know! They're so adorable). Makeup Revolution has also made a lot of ready made gift sets for christmas so if anyone has started their Christmas shopping yet and they want a nice little set of lipsticks, why not head to Superdrug. Also I saw a makeup calendar! I want it so bad! I think I'm going to do a Christmas wishlist post, I just feel like it would be super fun to write about.
Anyhow, thanks for reading, Dom x

Bourjois Bronzing Powder & Highlighter Review

Hiya! I've just got a quick post for you all. I'm also currently writing from Venice. We're on our way back but I shall be posting something about that soon. Anyhow here's a review for y'all.
I don't know whether you guys noticed but I've just been crazy about getting that perfect contour since I started blogging. I think it became popular in 2014 but since then the beauty industry started coming out with their own highlighter and bronzer products and the bloggers have been talking about it since then. But what is good and what is just a rip off?
I must say I'm probably the cheapest person you'll find. I buy things because they're cheap not necessarily looking at the quality. Nonetheless I didn't just want to end up buying a cheap contour palette on amazon (eg this), I wanted to buy something that would work for me. Not that going cheap is bad, believe me I choose that option 9/10 times however I guess I just wanted something that would be more effective.
Considering that my foundation ran out I made a trip to Boots to buy a new one. I ended up deciding to buy the healthy mix serum (which was the wrong shade but that's not the point). The only reason I bought this was because they had some deal on. I'm not too sure what it was exactly but buying this contour kit would only cost me £4 if I bought it with the foundation. Anyhow I've heard some good things about this and after swatching it in Boots I thought i'll give it a go.
Basically I wasn't impressed. I really like the bronzer as it smells really nice and my makeup brush picks it up really well. The shade is very natural but it's also buildable so you could make it stronger if you wanted. The highlighter on the other hand did nothing for me. To start off my brush couldn't actually pick any of it up, if anything the hightlighter started changing colour (I admit my brush wasn't totally clean then). After scratching into it (so that it would be a loose powder rather than pressed powder) my brush finally picked some product up and after putting a lot of it on my cheeks I finally noticed a difference. I still use in never the less but I'm going to say that I probably won't be repurchasing this duo again.

Bargain Boots

Don't you just love charity shops!
I'd like to share a fairly recent purchase from the Nottinghamshire Hospice. I'm going through a boot/heel phase right now so when I saw these I knew I had to get them. Can I just say that these bad boys were £3.99! I know right! The only issue is that the heel is fairly big which makes them slightly uncomfortable after wearing for a while. But I'm sure I'll live through the pain. Talking about the Nottinghamshire Hospice! Have you seen my Fave Charity shop post last week? I think you should hehe.
I think these booties are amazing because they will make any outfit that more chic and it'll make me look like I'm trying when I'm not really hehe. Oli doesn't really like them but I think they're perfect. Well if only they were more comfortable. I wonder why someone gave them away, and in such good condition. I sometimes think about things like that. What's their story? Just something on my mind every now and then.
Anyhow, can I just say that I'm going to Venice on Tuesday! I know crazy! I think I'm going through a slight dilemma because I actually don't know what to take with me. It might flood there so I can only think wellies but then what other shoes can I wear? Is this what Venetians have to go through too? The decision of whether or not you can get away with wearing boots or heels. Although that probably won't be the best idea considering we'll be walking all day. Any Venice fashion tips anyone?
I also started packing on Friday. I know I think I'm a little too excited. But how can you not be! I'll probably be blogging about this experience when I get back hehe. Well I'll see you when I get back (also I might do another sneaky post during the week ;)), have a great week everyone!

Fave Charity Shops | Nottinghamshire Hospice

Hello my lovelies!
So today I'm writing about one of my favorite charity shops in Nottingham, the Nottinghamshire Hospice and specifically the one one on Upper  Parliament street. Nottingham is a very creative place but my favourite feature is definitely the charity shops. I just love the fact that you can walk in and find a treasure that's someone else's junk. I'll probably do a few posts about my favourite charity shops. I have a few that I really like so I'll probably make a little series out of this. Nottingham is probably the best place for charity shop shopping. There's just so many! And you can find so many treasures in them that will make you stand out and be a little different to everyone else. I feel like charity shops give you that opportunity to express yourself in the way that you want rather than going to Primark and buying something that masses of other people are. You're also donating money to very charitable causes which is a bonus. Charity shops are an amazing way to raise money for different causes and the Nottinghamshire Hospices
"aim to add life to days for people that have been told that their illness cannot be cured. We help people who are thought to be in the last year of their life to live as actively and well as possible with care that puts the highest value on dignity, choice and respect."
Here are some pictures from the Upper Parliament Street store.

So that's it for today, hope you enjoyed this post and that even some of you check out the store.

New Camera!

I got a new camera! This is so exciting for me because now I can take better pictures! Can you tell how excited I am yet?
Since I started blogging, photography has been a big part of my life but considering I only had my phone camera I struggled a little. I've been reading so much about it like what ISO means or aperture or even shutter speed and how they work together to bring amazing images. Pinterest is really helpful for that but also other bloggers. Don't get me wrong, I'm still learning and the manual programme scares the hell out of me but every now and again I try it out and see what happens when the aperture is really low comparing to really high. I'm really excited too because at college we have an awesome studio and even though I don't do photography I'm allowed to use it! I'm also going to Venice in 2 weeks time and I really wanted a camera for it because I think it will be an amazing experience and I really wanted to capture it.
Let me know if you have any tips or anything because right now I think i'm just completely clueless. That's it for today. Just wanted to share this baby with you all. Don't forget to check out my post on Sunday. It'll be about my fave charity shop!

Pumpkin Spiced Hot Chocolate

Hello my lovelies!
I hope you all had a wonderful Halloween. What did you do? I went to town and I guess it was fun. I'm not big on going out anyhow but I guess being there with close friends made it better. We also didn't have any tickets to any of the clubs so by the end of the night we just ended up in McDonald's.
Anyhow this post is about pumpkin spiced hot chocolates so let's begin.

What you'll need:
  • Whole pumpkin (can be small)
  • Seasoning - nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon, ginger and vanilla flavouring
  • Milk

Start of by taking all the seeds out of the pumpkin

Cut the pumpkin in half then into smaller pieces.

Boil the pumpkin until the flesh is soft
Scoop the flesh off the skin

Place in a sauce pan and mash
In a little bowl and mix a teaspoon of ground nutmeg, ginger, cloves and cinnamon (although i recommend a little extra cinnamon)
In a bowl, put a teaspoon of the mixed seasonings and add half a teaspoon of vanilla flavouring.
Add three tablespoons of the pumpkin puree
Add a glass of milk and mix well
Add straight to the mug by siving the mixture. Fill about a quarter of the mug with the mixture and fill the rest with milk.
Don't forget to add some cocoa powder and mix well.
Voila! You have a pumpkin spiced hot chocolate. Enjoy!
Thanks for reading, have an awesome autumn, Dom x
