Back To School Supplies | Arty Farty

September 06, 2015

It's that time of the year!
*sigh* Back to school. It can be a really daunting time and the late lay ins turn to waking up at 6 or 7 am. However it can also be a very exciting time, especially if you're going to a new school (like I am). You get to meet new people, do exciting thing, that's if you're doing something that you enjoy.
On Monday I start my Art Foundation course and I couldn't be more excited! Now art isn't something that I want to do as a career however it's something that I enjoy doing and it will enable me to try out different things like photography or textiles.
I'd definitely recommend throwing yourself out there and putting as much effort into everything you try, you never know, you might even enjoy it. Starting off school with a positive attitude will mean that you're way more likely to enjoy it rather than having a preset negative attitude towards it.
Another exciting thing about school? Stationary! My is obviously a little more on the arty side but hey, we still need books and pens like other people.
So first if all yes that is a tool box, on the list of items given to us by college, toolbox was one of them. It makes sense though, finally I wont have to try and balance carrying all of my work in my arms. As you can see, it's overflowing with things I got over the summer.

I got the A4 blue portfolio, lined notebook, oil paints from the £1 shop. The textile markers I bought a while ago on Ebay I think, but they were super cheap. Now my biggest bargain was probably the felt tips, they cost me £2.50 from Wilko's as they were on promotion, honestly, no one believed me.
Lastly the cute little ribbon above the textile markers. I'm planning on doing a DIY soon so I just got a few little things for it. The ribbon was from Wilko's too and I'm pretty sure it was £1.  I also bought some felt alphabet shapes for any DIYs or last minute work I have to do. The decorative border tape is also for any DIYs or thing that I would like to decorate with. As you can probably tell by now, I'm not big on spending a lot of money hence my massive bargains.

Paints! Something you obviously need if you're doing an art foundation. Again I bought these really cheap from B&M for £3.99 each. Also a necessity, glue. You wont believe how much you need glue and how hard it is to access it. You end up using PVA and your piece of paper turns to a gluppy mess. I think the pack of 3 was £2.99.

Now here are my boxes of wonders. I have collected these over 2 years and some were gifts so I don't really know how much they were. Although the second and third from the left are from B&M and as you can tell, they were only £1.99.

Here are some little bits and bobs. The flower is actually a mixing palette and I think it only cost me £1 from Wilko's (its not the porcelain one, it's just plastic... I'm clumsy okay). The I got a cutting knife because these bad boys are so useful. They just make everything 10x faster. Okay maybe not 10 times but you get the gist. I think it cost me £3.99. Lastly here are some post-it notes because my organisation is terrible so I need little things like that to remind me that I need to do my work. I bought them in IKEA for £1-2.
So that is all for now, I hope you guys enjoy starting school or for those that already started remember to keep giving 100% effort because slacking won't do any good for you. But also just enjoy the experience. Good luck to everyone starting Uni this year (the majority of my year), have fun at freshers!

Thanks, Dom x
